RIVER ADUR - day paddle
Sunday 19 July 2020
Contact Robin Hickman
Updated covid rules and recommendations will apply and of course could prevent the event, but let's think positive!
As for other events this season, please make sure you are able to cope with the likely conditions. There is some fairly open water which any strong wind will affect, however the rest of the trip is mostly sheltered.
Please contact Robin for attendance and timing.
This is a there and back trip, so no car shuttle. Bring picnic and drink.
This is a tidal river, and today’s tides have times which suit this paddle. Meet at car park along south side of river at ‘Shoreham Beach’ at agreed time. Map ref.: 231048. postcode BN435HZ Leave the A259 at the large roundabout just west of the bridge over the Adur, go south, left at corner, then follow road for 1 3/4 miles. Car park is on left, overlooking the river, just before sailing club, though if busy we may have to move cars locally. There are public toilets within a 5 minute walk but they may be closed due to precautions. Paddle to Bramber and return. 12.4 miles total. This is one of the rivers that cut through the South Downs. So scenery is impressive.
Should be back at Shoreham by 16.00.
