x
Saturday 09 July 2016, 11:00am - 02:00pm

Cruise to mark the re-opening of the waterways around the Olympic Park

Starting from Old Ford Lock at 11am, around to the Cross Rail intersection, back to Old Ford Lock, continuing down the navigation, taking the channel to City Mill Lock (levels to be set for the gates to be open) and up the Waterworks River into the R  Lea beyond Carpenters Lock. The cruise will finish on the R Lea after exploring this stretch of river that is designated for Paddlesport in the QEOP.

A circular trip back to Old Ford Lock has not been possible to arrange and drivers will have to be returned to their vehicles at Old Ford Lock.

Distance – up to 6 miles, no locks.

The paddlers cruise will be separate to the power boats event which commences at 2pm when 80 narrow boats are expected to participate. Olympic Waterways require paddlers to be clear of the winding point at Carpenters Lock by 2pm.  The paddlers are likely to be clear of Carpenters Lock by 1pm and after having a look at the R Lea be off the water some time after 2pm

Car Parking is limited at Old Ford Lock. Can we ask for expressions of interest to attend as soon as possible and advising that everyone will have to share transport and have two or three boats per car as spaces have to be allocated to other clubs.
