Sunday 1st December 2024 – Was River Thames now Basingstoke Canal from Dogmersfield to Odiham Castle and back.

With the Thames on Red Boards again after the storms we will instead be paddling on the Basingstoke Canal, starting from Dogmersfield with a possible visit to the entrance to the Basingstoke Canal Tunnel and lunch in the grounds of Odiham Castle. Please bring a packed lunch.
Meet ready to paddle at 10:00am in the canal side car park (free but with height restrictor ... we have a key for this if needed!) in Sprat's Hatch Lane RG27 8DD, W3W: rotations.thirsty.deserved , OS: SU 7778 5380, Lat Long: 51.278124, -0.886138.
This is a gentle paddle with no portages but does have a very low bridge near Odiham Castle which can just be be navigated with care.
Either proof of Paddle UK (formerly British Canoeing) membership or Environment Agency licence is required.
