As a section of the Camping and Caravanning Club, all our camping events are open to Camping and Caravanning Club members (including Canoe-camping Club members) only. Anyone participating must be a member of the Camping and Caravanning Club before attending a meet.

Please remember to bring your Club membership cards to all club events, since we are required to check and record memberships are current.  We also need to record BRITISH CANOEING numbers for those who have them. Paddlers need to be a member of the Canoe-camping Club and/or one of Britain's paddlesport National Governing Bodies*.   These are needed to ensure that we are covered by the Club's and British Canoeing's insurance.
Canoeing and kayaking are ‘assumed risk’ ‘water contact’ activities, however serious accidents are very rare.
Participants should be aware of and accept these risks, and be responsible for their own action and involvement.
All participants in club trips or meets do so at their own risk, and neither the Club nor its officers can accept any liability for loss or injury of any kind sustained whilst on a Club trip, meet or other activity.

A pretty waterway full of wildlife and with some interesting features including the George Street Cutting, on the outskirts of Bridgwater, which is a brick-built structure, buttressed on one side of the short tunnel (below the A38) by oak beams inscribed with canal navigators’ sayings. “The Somerset Space Walk” starts at Maunsel with a huge representation of the Sun. In both directions the planets are represented in proportion along the towpath, the distance in between being proportional too. Also running along the path is a Mr Men search for the younger members (In the region of 50 to find which are listed at Maunsel).

I have reserved tent spaces with the understanding that we may camp free of charge so long as we eat there in the evenings. (The meals were very good last year when tried out the site!) I understand that there is some space now for caravans and campervans (presumably with the same pricing arrangement!). Please make your own arrangements with the pub for these, but let me know that you are coming.

Important note: There are no overnight toilet facilities available – open from 8am.

The campsite is only a matter of minutes from the Canal Centre at Maunsel.
Portage trolleys recommended.
