Our annual visit. The Broads is a beautiful place this time of year, with few cruisers about and the potential for some autumn sunshine - and sometimes high winds!!! The waters paddled will be a combination of open broads and rivers, and are suitable for all craft and paddlers subject to wind conditions and the ability to cover about 10 miles in a day. Portage wheels useful, but not essential if feeling strong. Canoeing Programme to be decided on the days - depending on wind conditions. Possibilities are:-
- From Stalham, across Barton Broad down R. Ant, R. Bure and up R. Thurne to site 10 miles or 11½ if we detour into Ranworth Broad - lunch at Ludham Bridge or Ranworth
- Return trip up R. Thurne to Hickling Broad via Potter Heigham, lunch at the Pleasure Boat Inn 10½ miles or 14 if we detour via Horsey Mere (National Trust nature reserve and restored wind pump)
- Return trip down R. Thurne and R. Bure to Ranworth Broad lunch at the Maltsters P H (Wildlife conservation centre, church with good views from tower) 10 miles
