As a section of the Camping and Caravanning Club, all our camping events are open to Camping and Caravanning Club members (including Canoe-camping Club members) only. Anyone participating must be a member of the Camping and Caravanning Club before attending a meet.

Please remember to bring your Club membership cards to all club events, since we are required to check and record memberships are current.  We also need to record BRITISH CANOEING numbers for those who have them. Paddlers need to be a member of the Canoe-camping Club and/or one of Britain's paddlesport National Governing Bodies*.   These are needed to ensure that we are covered by the Club's and British Canoeing's insurance.
Canoeing and kayaking are ‘assumed risk’ ‘water contact’ activities, however serious accidents are very rare.
Participants should be aware of and accept these risks, and be responsible for their own action and involvement.
All participants in club trips or meets do so at their own risk, and neither the Club nor its officers can accept any liability for loss or injury of any kind sustained whilst on a Club trip, meet or other activity.

A 9 mile paddle with 3 portages from Old Woking to Bowers Lock, Burpham, and return to Send.

Programme and Notes

Meet between 9.40 and 10.00 to park on the forecourt and to the side of Messrs Murrays, High Street, Old Woking, Post Code GU22 9LB , OS: TQ 01700 56907 , Lat/Long: 51.302213,-0.54255724 , w3w: young.comic.porch. Cars are to be left here.

After the paddle it is a 10-minute walk from the finish, at Send Bridge back to Old Woking to collect cars.  Parking is only arranged to load boats at the nearby Church, Broadmead Road, GU23 7AD , OS: TQ 01775 56162 , Lat/Long: 51.295505,-0.54168820 , w3w: prefer.chill.flags.  A trolley would be useful.

Launch before 10.30 across the road from Murrays and paddle downstream to the Wey Navigation at Papercourt Lock.  Portage the lock and continue up the navigation, portaging Triggs Lock to arrive at Bowers Lock the likely lunch stop.  

At Broadoak Bridge and weir on the return leg, portage across to the River Wey that re-joins the navigation below Triggs Lock, then continue to Send.

A British Canoeing members or National Trust licence is required.

The trip is suitable for all in kayak or open canoe.
