As a section of the Camping and Caravanning Club, all our camping events are open to Camping and Caravanning Club members (including Canoe-camping Club members) only. Anyone participating must be a member of the Camping and Caravanning Club before attending a meet.

Please remember to bring your Club membership cards to all club events, since we are required to check and record memberships are current.  We also need to record BRITISH CANOEING numbers for those who have them. Paddlers need to be a member of the Canoe-camping Club and/or one of Britain's paddlesport National Governing Bodies*.   These are needed to ensure that we are covered by the Club's and British Canoeing's insurance.
Canoeing and kayaking are ‘assumed risk’ ‘water contact’ activities, however serious accidents are very rare.
Participants should be aware of and accept these risks, and be responsible for their own action and involvement.
All participants in club trips or meets do so at their own risk, and neither the Club nor its officers can accept any liability for loss or injury of any kind sustained whilst on a Club trip, meet or other activity.

CHICHESTER HARBOUR WEEKEND - Itchenor/Cobnor
From Friday 15 September 2023
To Sunday 17 September 2023

Saturday 16th September 2023 Chichester Harbour Itchenor to Emsworth and back

Sunday 17th September 2023 Chichester Harbour Itchenor to Bosham, Dell Quay and back

This is being advertised as two separate day paddles but anyone wishing to camp over the weekend should contact Janet Hales (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). Camping will be on the Cobnor site, rates £10.50 per adult per night (under 18s £5, dogs £3). I expect there will also be a launch fee from Cobnor which last year was £4 per boat per day.

Alternatively, please contact Martin Dunn This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or mobile 077143 29271 if you just want to attend one or both day paddles without camping.

Note that paddling in the harbour will require a harbour licence which can be purchased at Itchenor from the harbour office or their waterside booth. Kayak/canoe rates are £6 per day or £8 for a week. We are no longer able to sell/issue harbour licenses.

Parking at Itchenor is £5.40 for 4 to 12 hours (double this if towing a trailer) payable by the MiPermit app or cash, or at the harbour office.  Please see https://www.conservancy.co.uk/exploring/getting-here/ for more information.

Saturday launch time(s)/trip details:  (HW 13:16BST) Itchenor to Emsworth. Depart Itchenor  10:00 a.m. We should arrive at Emsworth before high tide for lunch and return on the start of the falling tide. Expect to paddle against the tide heading out towards the Emsworth Channel at the start and again as we turn to head back up the channel towards Itchenor and Cobnor on the return leg.

Sunday launch time(s)/trip details: (HW 13:44BST) Itchenor to Bosham, then Dell Quay and back. Depart Itchenor 10:00 a.m.

These trips are best suited to experienced paddlers in touring/sea kayaks and strong paddlers in open canoes. I would advise using buoyancy bags in open canoes as conditions can get choppy if its windy.

Campers can arrive from Friday afternoon and are advised to bring their own sanitation or make use of the club elsan, as site facilities are limited.
