Map reading and using a compass
You should be able to:
- * find a position on a map from a given 6-figure map reference
- * give a 6-figure map reference for a position on a map
- * describe from a map the main features of a 3-mile journey
- * show how to set a map with a compass
- * give a bearing between two points on a map
- * use the key on a map
- * say when and where a compass would be practically useful (e.g. under difficult weather conditions like fog and terrain)
The links will take you to appropriate sections of the Ordnance survey MapZone MapAbility site - an interactive site to help teach yourself how to map read (the sound is annoying - I'd turn it off!)
