EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING

The meeting is at 4:00 pm, and should last roughly an hour.  Only a good attendance at this meeting will ensure our club survives.  Please be there.

Free refreshments will be available.  See Canoe-camper Magazine for meeting agenda venue etc.

FIreworks from the riverPADDLING.

Saturday Morning before the meeting:

If there is sufficient interest a short paddle can be arranged on the Slough Arm of the Grand Union canal. This is a short drive from the Windsor Cadet Unit, so get there by 11.00 to join this.

Saturday Evening after the meeting:

An opportunity to view the local firework display from your boat. This is always a ‘son et lumiere’ affair, and this year is themed around Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  (See http://www.windsor-racecourse.co.uk/whats-on/win-fireworks-2017 for an idea of what to expect).  PLEASE EQUIP YOURSELF WITH AN ALL ROUND WHITE LIGHT to comply with navigation regulations in darkness. The fireworks start at approximately 19:30, so we’ll aim to be on the water by 19:00 to be able to paddle upstream and be in position in time.  Afterwards there will be complimentary jacket potatoes available and hot soup.

Sunday : a local day-trip will be arranged, launching at Windsor Canoe Club. The intention is to paddle 'out and back' i.e. no car ferry. If not 'camping', please arrive by 10 am for Sunday's paddle.

FRIDAY and SATURDAY NIGHT ACCOMMODATION

We have been kindly offered limited indoor accommodation by Windsor and Eton Sea Cadets.  Roll mats / camp-beds and sleeping bags required. There are loos and showers in the Sea Cadet unit, and a small galley with oven, fridge, 4 ring hob, kettle, tea urn and microwave oven.  The unit also has a licensed bar!  If you would like a space, please contact Fran beforehand to make sure there is capacity – it will be on a first-come-first-served basis.  Overnight parking is also available – again contact Fran to check on the finer details.
